TANTRUMS ARE NORMAL

If your child is having a tantrum it doesn’t mean you are a bad parent. They are merely passing through a behavioural phase. The best tip for coping with tantrums is to fi rst make sure your child is safe (i.e. can’t pull over shelves or knock themselves out on the corner of a table), and then actively ignore them.

You can try distracting them but often they are so consumed with screaming that it’s a futile exercise. Wait for them to calm down and then suggest a nice thing you can do together.
