TIME-OUT

It’s not illegal yet, and even if it were, I would break the law. The standard rule is one minute in time-out for each year of their life. Try not to make time-out their bedroom, because you don’t want them to associate their sleeping space with negative consequences. We use the laundry, but be warned – put all soap powders up high. On one occasion we thought Jack was being particularly quiet in time-out, only to discover he had tipped the contents of a 5 kg bag of soap powder all over the floor. He won that round!
