Make a customer promise

Help your customers know what they can expect when they do business with you. Write a customer promise.

Start the promise with the words: “When you do business with us, we will …” and then list four to six very specific things you will do.

How to decide what to list
Ask your customers. How do they want to be treated? What is most important to them? Then choose a few of the things they want for your promise.

Display your promise wherever customers might be able to see it. You will find it attracts customers who like the sound of what you have to say. Your customers will also be more relaxed because they will know what to expect.

Of course a promise is just empty words unless you deliver on it.
