Learn their business

A few years ago, an American study found 75% of purchasing managers said their suppliers did not understand their business. What would your customers say about how well you know their business?

You know which products and services your customers buy from you but do you know their:

  1. Strategic objective and business goals.
  2. Competitive strategy, tactical plan and upcoming new initiatives.
  3. Obstacles and problems that stand in their way.

Call and meet with your top customers. Don’t make it a sales call. Just ask your customer to tell you about their business, challenges and plans for the year. Sit back and listen.

People love to talk about their business and they will be impressed you were interested enough to come and learn about what they are doing. Ironically, it will increase sales too!
