Generate great word of mouth

How a little café in Masterton did it Anne spent five minutes raving to me about all the
different things the Time Out Café in Masterton did for customers. ‘How did you first come across the café, Anne?’ I asked. ‘A friend suggested I join their birthday club for a free dinner invite,’ she replied. It was such a great word-of-mouth story I’ve repeated it
to thousands.

You might think it was the café’s activities that impressed me: a birthday club; double out-of-towner coffee stamps; free coffee prizes for ping-pong bull’seyes. No, it was their clever and inexpensive customer service and marketing strategy of maintaining and using a database of customers. Can you effectively run a birthday club without a database of customers?

Your customer service strategy should be similar. Use a database to increase business turnover and add value to your service.
