The Power of Positive Thinking

You Can Do Anything. Not Everything. Balance.

Several weeks ago we discussed how you can do anything - achieve anything you want with the power of being positive and positive thinking. We put a process behind it with a three step plan which was to:
1 -Set a specific goal.
2. Determine exactly what you need to do to get there. From A to B
3 Break it into small specific manageable steps. Then do it.

But while we can do any thing, we can't do EVERYTHING. We're not omnipotent. Though we all try. Especially women. We try to do it all. To be a super mom, super business women, super partner. Superwomen.

3 Years ago I hit a turning point. One of my twins Samantha, said to a friend as she walked past me working in my office "Oh that's my mother - she's always on the computer".

That innocent statement shocked me to the core. I had no balance. I truly was on the computer, often til midnight - trying to do it all myself. The very next day I put an ad in the paper for an assistant.

Get help! I know it's not a big New Zealand custom and many of you wouldn't think of it. I remember reading in a triplet club newsletter years ago comments made by women who wouldn't think of having home help even though the government paid for it. They were going to handle the 3 infants themselves. Needless, useless martyrdom I thought.

So what about you?
Cook. Cleaner. Business woman. Chauffer. Sports parent.

1. Is it you personally that has to be the chauffer?
Why not try to establish a car pool?

2. Do you have to go to every single sports game your child does
Why not take that hour off for yourself?

3. Homework - the bain of a parent's existence - get help

4. Is it you that has to clean? Do all the cooking?
Share it around, get someone in to help.

5. Finally women that are self employed. If the hourly wage you pay someone is less than the additional income you can bring in with this freed up time - you are ahead of the game aren't you?
